I promised our Communitcation director that I would update this page. Sorry, that I have been so lax in doing so. January 2012 is almost gone and the Lenten season begins in three weeks. Seems Christmas was only yesterday with very little time to recuperate from Advent season. The activities at Harmony are keeping me very busy these days and with the added health issues of myself, Dad and Mom I seem to be on the go continously. With God's help all is well and life goes on.
LeRoy Jones will be preaching for our Holy Week services this year, April 1 - 4 at 7:00 PM. This was just confirmed on Saturday so more will be forthcoming when I receive the promotion packet from LeRoy. Begin planning now for a wonderful time of renewal during these pre Easter services.
The UMC is entering into a new era challenging congregations to become "Vital Congregations". I feel that Harmony is a vital congregation, yet after attending the previews of "what we could become" I realize we should never be satisfied with were we are. I am looking forward to the next months of individual and communal review of our spiritual gifts and how our community of faith is using them doing God's ministry in our community and around the world. It will be a challenging time but I am sure that only GOOD will come from it and we will become a renewed people for God.
We have finished seven weeks in the fifteen scheduled for the current confirmation class. We began with eight but have dropped down to six confirmands. Hope to finish by Easter and be able to receive these confirmands into full membership. I am thankful for those who attend faithfully, their parents and Marie Farris who co-teaches this class with me. What a blessing to learn the thoughts and beliefs of our young future leaders of the church and to share with them the history and current faith of Methodism.
I was happy to learn last week that we closed out the year paying all our liabilities and purchased 10 1/2 acres of land in the process. 2011 was a good year for Harmony and I am looking forward to new blessing and excitement in 2012. Come and join us for Sunday school at 9:45 AM, Morning worship at 11:00 AM, Bible study, Youth/Children meetings at 7:00 PM. Each Thursday night we have a covered dish meal at 7:00 PM and a contemporary worship service following supper. Stronghold Band provides the music and the speakers are many people from varied walks of life. If you are interested in speaking give me a call or send me an email.
God Bless
Pastor Robert
